The annual summer run, on 16th June, was a sell-out with 240 competitors completing a 5 mile or 10 mile course. With events in both summer and winter, the Bumble Bimble runners have raised a grand total of £14,500 for charity since it was launched.
The Bumble Bimble is a community event, organised by volunteers and supported by local businesses, including Champion Security Installations Ltd (https://www.championcctv.co.uk) and Bumble Hole Eggs (https://bumbleholefoods.com). It runs events twice a year and is committed to raising money for good causes.
Event organiser, Alex Dentith, said: “This was our 5th Bumble Bimble run and the enthusiasm of competitors and support from volunteers and the local community never fails to amaze me. It’s a beautiful course and our runners have a great time – and the fact that we are also raising money for such a worthwhile cause makes it an extra special day!”
Managers at The Basement Project were delighted with donation which will help support the many valuable projects they have in place.
Kelly Turner, who is Community Fundraiser for the charity, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Bumble Bimble fund-raisers – this is an amazing donation and will go a long way to help our vulnerable clients. We have more fund raising activities in July and client activities in August, so are looking forward to a busy summer.”
Founded in 2000, The Basement Project supports local young people under 25 with any issues they are facing and helps them to live independently. As well as running a Drop-In Centre and Workshops they also have a Food Bank on site, which is always grateful for donations.

In the meantime, however, the Bumble Bimble runners will continue with their training in preparation for the Winter event – which consists of a 5 or 10 mile run and includes a 2 Santa mile Santa dash, completed in festive attire! Bookings are now being taken for what is sure to be another sell-out fund-raiser.
This event couldn’t take place without the support of volunteers so if you are interested in helping out please get in touch. Find out more here: https://www.bumblebimble.run.
