‘Wood’ you believe it? The Bumble Bimble runners raise a record-breaking amount for the Woodland Trust!

The Bumble Bimble runners have raised over £7000 for the Woodland Trust with their latest event.  Having supported a variety of charities over the past few years, this year the community-spirited trail running enthusiasts decided to fund-raise for the Woodland Trust, in recognition of the beautiful woods and countryside that provide the setting for their annual events.

Running over a distance of 5 or 10 miles, hundreds of runners traversed through the Dodford countryside, starting and ending at the Park Gate Inn, who provided much-welcomed hospitality for all involved.

With T-shirts and vests paid for by sponsors, and with professional photographers donating their time to take photos, the fund-raising was a real team effort.

Held at the end of June, all funds have been received and the final total is a breath-taking £7400. The money raised will go to the Woodland Trust’s Pepper Wood appeal, which is hoping to reforest the land adjacent to Pepper Wood.

Event organiser, Alex Dentith, said: “It was a real joy to get the Bumble Bimble runners together again, to support a cause that is very close to our heart.  We are truly thankful to have this beautiful countryside on our doorstep and we wanted to give something back.”

“Of course, we had to adhere to COVID safety rules throughout the event, but we were still able to celebrate our achievements at the end of the race thanks to the fantastic support of the Park Gate Inn.”

The Bumble Bimble events have been running for several years now, with races attracting up to 500 participants.  Having previously held events in both Summer and Winter, the organisers have now decided to focus on one annual event to be held in June.

“Our supporters are amazing, and the growth of these events has been incredible,” said Alex.

“However, the event is organised by volunteers and an event this size is now very time consuming. We want to have one great event a year for our runners and to raise as much money as we can for local charities. We’re already planning the next one!”
